Just a quick time-lapse of a barrel being modeled in Blender while I explore a method to use in an upcoming tutorial on creating a game asset with materials and baking it for both high poly and low poly exports to FBX and OBJ. Enjoy!

The theme for this month's challenge on CG Boost is mythology. Since swords are fun to make I decided to make some kind of scene having to do with the Arthur legend. Here is what I have so far. More to come soon!
I've added some sound effects to the takeoff sequence! I mixed a bunch of sounds together from jet engines and hydraulic equipment that I downloaded from some free creative commons sound sites. Let me know what you think!

I'm making some progress on the animation of the Swordfish. Nothing here is final yet, but it's becoming more complete!

A quick progress update. I now have believably folding wings and primary landing gear. You wouldn't engineer a real plane from this, but it looks OK to me!

Continuing work on the Swordfish in Blender. Visible progress is slower at the moment since I am figuring out the mechanical aspects of the craft now. Here's what I have on the wing fold so far.
Of course you can follow all of the progress here on the blog (Follow to do so) as well as on Instagram and Facebook!
I've finished the major shapes and attachments for the ship. I have to determine now just how far I want to go with moving parts. Do I make the wings fold up and the gear extend and retract? Should there be a full on cockpit interior? Let me know if you or somebody you know may want to make a mini Spike to pilot it! Sorry, no pay. Just credit :)
This is a second go at a project I completed a few years ago. Cowboy Bepop was the first anime I ever watched and it is still my favorite! Spike's ship is a very unique design and is a great challenge for modeling. I would like to remake it since My skills are (at least in theory) more advanced than then 😆
The asteroid field or planetary belt needs a mining station. Here is what I have come up with. Artstation is failing to process the videos ai try to add here, so enjoy these stills! or check out the turn tables on Instagram!
More Asteroids! ...and some other stuff. It's actually starting to look like something. The asteroids were thrown out of a particle emission plane at the bottom of the scene. There are two volume objects creating the dust and clouds and I threw one of my planets in the background for good measure. Now that I have a decent environment I can add the subject.
